There are a number of ways to look good and feel good in a family photoshoot. It’s a fun event that shouldn’t add any additional stress to your life. A non-stressed family is a beautiful family ready to be captured by our family photographer.
In order to reduce your stress we recommend taking time for yourself. For example:
Have a relaxing morning
Get a facial/massage
Drop the kids off at a family members the night before
Take a extra long shower
Create a playlist of your favorite music for the photoshoot
At Danielle Nicole Portraits we offer professional hair and makeup styling. We take this off of your plate, so you don’t have to think about it. For clothing options, choose something that is comfortable and flattering. The goal is for you to be able to move comfortably and wear clothes that fit you well - avoid clothing that is baggy or too tight.
Before your photoshoot we recommend that you get to know your angles. Spend extra time in front of the mirror to figure out what angles make you feel the most beautiful. During the photoshoot, Danielle guides you through the poses so that you and your family shine and look their best. Take comfort in the fact you are not the whole focus on the photoshoot and your loved ones are there surrounding you.
Lastly, trust that Danielle will get you through it and deliver amazing edited family photos. Before the shoot you can discuss the editing that Danielle will do in post-production.

Typically family photoshoots at Danielle Nicole Portraits take a few hours, however the duration of a family photoshoot can vary widely based on a multitude of factors. First of these is the size of the family. Larger families can take more time to coordinate and guide through posing, so that you have that perfect shot! Additionally, if you have young ones that could take more time since younger children may require more breaks or have trouble concentrating.
Second is outfit changes. Changing out fits during the session adds extra time (10-15 minutes per change.)
Lastly, if you have requested a specific shot or photography style, this could take time to achieve.
Regardless of how long the session may take, we promise it’ll all be worth it!
